Whether your project is nearly complete or not yet started, you’ll want to obtain an estimate for whatever work it will require. To be sure the estimate is as accurate as possible, supply us with complete information about your project. Here are a few examples of commonly-overlooked details required for an accurate estimate:

Need an ISBN? – Your published book will require an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) if you plan to sell it in bookstores. Once you have an ISBN, IGI can create and imprint a barcode on your book cover to facilitate handling by distributors and retail outlets.

Approximate Page Count – Many authors request an estimate for production well before their book is complete, which is no problem at IGI. If you don’t know the exact page count of your book at the time of estimate, we suggest providing a close approximation – including the number of black and white and color pages – so we can return an accurate estimate to you.

Binding Style – At IGI Publishing, we offer four excellent binding solutions: saddle stitching, perfect binding (paperback), case binding (hardcover) and Otabind (layflat paperback). The differences in cost and scheduling time vary widely between each method, so consult IGI to help determine the best one for your application.

Choose Your Stock Wisely – Paper stock can represent a significant portion of the cost of a project - especially if it's a thick book. If you have a preference for a specific stock, let us know when requesting an estimate. Keep in mind that special-order stocks may increase your costs. If you aren't picky with your paper, IGI will often specify a “house” stock that meets your project requirements and may save you some money as well.
