Erinnerung, Gedenken, Memories…Survival of the Human Spirit follows Lore Buchheim’s life growing up as a pampered Jewish child in Germany, surviving the Holocaust only to feel totally alone, moving from one town to another, then moving to Bolivia – on another continent, and finally establishing her life again in the United States. Although the account of the Holocaust is very graphic, it is not the string that resonates the strongest. What sets the tone, and what is remembered is that of Lore’s “will” – her will to succeed becoming the will to survive then to overcome and afterward to give back.
